Israeli Officials at Knesset gathering condemn anti-Christian protest

ICEJ President Dr. Jürgen Bühler was among the speakers addressing a gathering in the Knesset on Wednesday of Christian supporters of Israel from around the world. At the event, which was part of the annual Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast, Israeli parliamentarians uniformly condemned the Orthodox Jewish protesters who angrily confronted Evangelical Christians attending the Pentecost prayer event on the Southern Steps of the Temple Mount last Sunday. The Israeli officials defending the pro-Israel Christian community today included the Speaker of the Knesset as well as MKs Matan Kahana, Ohad Tal and Tatiana Mazarsky, along with former MK Rabbi Yehuda Glick. Israel’s Foreign Ministry and deputy mayor of Jerusalem Fleur Hassan Nahoum were also quick to denounce the anti-Christian protest, which was spearheaded by fellow deputy mayor Arieh King, known as a radical religious activist.
