A beautiful haircut before the Pesach Holiday!

A studio near our Haifa Home trains people to become hairdressers. They invited our residents for a free haircut.

“When we saw that the financial situation of many people has deteriorated this past year, we decided to give Holocaust Survivors a free haircut just before the holidays” said Roman Rubin the owner of the studio. The different hairdressers did their utmost best for their special clients. Marsha shared that “I feel a bit nervous. Not because I am cutting hair but more because I am doing it for such special people”. Vika, another hairdresser, thoroughly enjoyed the experience, “When I look at them I want to cry because I am thinking about what they went through. I would like to meet with them again and talk to them. This is such a respectful thing for me to do.”
Most residents were very happy with their haircut and are ready for the Pesach holiday to start.

German concert at the Haifa Home

Music and love: a great combination resulting in JOY

Three people from Germany, Birte, Jens and Karin, visited our Haifa Home and brought music and gifts for our residents.

The tunes of the violin and the Ukulele changed the atmosphere and entered the residents like balm for their soul. It became a very enjoyable morning. After the concert everyone stayed to talk and enjoy themselves. Before they went home, they received a beautiful scarf, which they were able to choose themselves. Visits like these are such a treat and blessing.

Swedish group
Yacov delighted to speak Swedish

Our ICEJ Sweden director Gitten Oholm brought a group of 11 professional handymen who spent their holiday in Israel renovating a Swedish building in a youth village near Haifa which was organised by the Christian Embassy.

On their last evening, they came to the Home, to meet Yaacov and listen to his story in their native tongue, Swedish. How was that possible? Yaacov had lived a part of his life in Sweden and was able to share his experiences of the Holocaust in the language that they understood best. After that they had a taste of the best evening of the week: dance evening.
Royal Rangers

The Royal Rangers surprise visit

A group of 9 Royal Ranger leaders (scouts from Germany) from 7 different scout groups, came by for an unexpected visit to the Haifa Home. Due to Covid-19 the Royal Rangers' yearly visits and volunteering to the Home had to stop and this was the first time that a group of Royal Rangers came again for a visit.

These leaders had never met a Holocaust Survivor and the visit to the Home and hearing the different stories and meeting different residents left memories that they will not forget for the rest of their lives.
