Manya on TBN

Recently, the film “Israel at 75” was aired worldwide. This approximately hour-long film delves into significant events spanning the 75-year history of the State of Israel. Produced by the Christian television network TBN ISRAEL, the documentary is hosted by former US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman.

Notably, within the segment focusing on the Holocaust era and the remarkable resilience of

survivors who endured the horrors of extermination camps, David Friedman chose to feature Manya Herman, a Holocaust survivor born in what was then called Bessarabia. Manya, now at the age of 90, lives in our Home and shares her touching account of life during the Holocaust and recounts her courageous journey of survival and her Aliyah to Israel in 1951, while her grandchildren and great-grandchildren surround her.

Gourmet meals for Rosh HaShanah

In anticipation of the upcoming Rosh Hashanah, well-known chefs lent their expertise to our dining room, where they prepared sumptuous gourmet meals for our residents.

Chef Moshe Segev, one of Israel’s culinary talents, along with a team of dedicated volunteers, crafted these gourmet meals. This special luncheon for our residents was part of a broader initiative to provide meals for Holocaust survivors during the holiday season.

Chef Segev was motivated to join this endeavor, saying, “When I learned about this wonderful initiative, I immediately felt compelled to be a part of it. Rosh Hashanah is a significant holiday, one where families come together around the table. It pains me to think that there are individuals who have nothing to eat during this special time. I am just a small part of a vast network of volunteers who work tirelessly for an incredibly meaningful cause.”

Happy Birthday, dear Genia

In August, the second one of our residents turned 100 years. A true milestone. Our dear Genia, who has been part of the Home almost since the beginning celebrated her 100th birthday in our dining room, together with her sister, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and our residents. We are grateful that many of our residents reach these high ages.

Boris passed away

Boris was born in Zaporozhe, Ukraine, in 1934. He had vivid memories of the Holocaust, which he survived as a boy. They had to flee their town on a dangerous journey and were brought to Omsk, a little town in Siberia. The winter of 1941-42 was freezing. The temperature dropped to -40C. They suffered terribly from the cold, which left Boris with a hearing problem.

After the war, Boris met his wife Etta, and they got 2 sons. In 1999, they could finally make Aliyah and have been so happy living in Israel.

More than five years ago they became residents of our Home.

Boris passed away at the age of almost 89 and is leaving Etta, his wife of 63 years, behind. We will all miss this remarkable man.

八月，我們的第二位居民迎來了100歲生日。一個真正的里程碑。我們親愛的吉尼亞，幾乎從一開始就一直是療養院的一員，她與她的姐妹、孩子、孫子和曾孫以及我們的居民一起在我們的餐廳慶祝了她的 100 歲生日。 我們很感激我們的許多居民都達到了這麼高的年齡。

鮑里斯去世

鮑里斯 1934 年出生於烏克蘭扎波羅熱。他對大屠殺有著清晰的記憶，並在孩童時期倖存下來。 他們必須踏上危險的旅程逃離家鄉，並被帶到西伯利亞的一個小鎮鄂木斯克。 1941-42 年的冬天非常寒冷。溫度降至-40℃。他們遭受了嚴寒，導致鮑里斯出現了聽力問題。
